Event Description: Lack of access to safe, quality, affordable medical oxygen is contributing to hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths each year and reducing quality of life for millions more, according to the final report released by the Lancet Global Health Commission on Medical Oxygen Security.
The Lancet Global Health Commission on Medical Oxygen Security is co-chaired by Makerere University Uganda, icddr,b Bangladesh, the University of Melbourne/Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) Australia, the Karolinska Institutet Sweden, and the Every Breath Counts Coalition. Eighteen Commissioners oversee the Commission – academic experts representing all regions – and 40 Advisors provide guidance, supported by a global network of Oxygen Access Collaborators. Special testimonials are gathered from patients, caregivers, and clinicians and consultations have been conducted with industry and other experts.
